Short, Sweet Email

Basically nothing has been cooked recently! we share our home with a member and our cupboards that we have are FULL OF JUNK LEFT BY OTHER MISSIONARIES! AGG. so I have avoided using the kitchen until I can clean it out and make it nice.

my new(old) companion is Elder Taea. he is from Hawaii and is quieter than even I am! Crazy! anyway he is a blast. he makes ties, and basically will make a new one every few days. 

The area is weird. Because it is big. we don't have a ton of time in IP and West, but they seem like there is a bit of work up there. 

The number one thing is... space. there is so much nothing up here! houses are miles apart! it's crazy!

anyway I might not be able to email this week because we are going bowling in just a bit. But I will definitely try!

Emails are GREAT

Hi All, 

Just face it!   I am bad at email.

This Sunday we got transfer calls I am going to Ashton to be with Elder Taea. I don't know who he is...

Also Saturday I got to be with My trainer again and we went through the temple with the first person I baptized in my mission! It was crazy awesome! then We rushed over to another baptism that I had helped teach, and while I was doing all of this my companion was also!

That's actually all that I was able to write last week before not sending a letter or writing anything else. Oh well. Hopefully I do a lot better this week and I am able to finish my thoughts. 

Anyway to finish my last thought I was talking about Saturday the 10th when I went to an Endowment session and a baptism while my companion Elder Hicks went to his own baptism at the same time! It was a crazy awesome day. Anyway nothing else important happened that week so I will now skip to this week! 

Sunday we received transfer calls and I knew I was going to be in Ashton with Elder Taea. I didn't know him at the time but now I've had three days with him and I can say that he is awesome! He is from Hawaii near the Temple! 

The last frantic days in IFWest were filed with making sure the area was ready for different missionaries, saying goodbye to a few people that I had gotten to know real well, and stuff like that. The district had a breakfast on Wednesday where I made a cake... And the sisters made the exact same cake totally unscripted! Later we found out tat it wasn't the exact  same cake, but it looked the same from above. Also for that breakfast I made scones, and they were not very good. :[

Thursday was crazy! We were up early to finish getting ready for transfers, The other missionaries in the district were coming over to have breakfast and to take us to the transfer site. 

So we made pancakes and some other good breakfast stuff. It was a blast. 

Then we went to the site and saw a ton of missionaries, and headed off north. We drove past my previous areas as I headed to the Rexburg transfer site. 

And now it's today!

I might not be able to fix my "ED an Overview" document today, but definitely check it out in the coming weeks for my new address and info stuff.

Weekly Email l l l l l

Hey Everyone! Another week passes and so another Email sends!

This week was great! we got so much done! We went to a ward party, moved a ton of furniture, taught some lessons, slid around in the ice, went to a mission prep class, and spoke in one of our wards!

jk that's not all I'm going to write.

But that is a really great description of this weeks activities. 

I guess the only crazy thing that happened is that Elder Hicks and Elder Schabel hit their year marks, and so they burned some pants. It was super snowy and cold that night.

The other AWESOME thing that happened is that I received word that the first person I ever taught/baptized in the mission hit their year mark (24th of Feb) and are going to the Temple the 9th of march. And I get to go to that also! I am so excited! The last year has been a blast! I am stunned that it has been so long already! The last year has really taught me a lot, and I am so thankful that I have been able to do this.

Anyway I discovered a really cool thing in the Gospel Library app this week, STUDY PLANS. It lets you put in a date that you want to study x thing by, and it splits it up into breaks and then you can have it remind you to read the part for that day/week. it's really cool and I highly recommend using it if you find that you aren't being consistent in your scripture/conference/saints-vol-1 reading. It's really cool.

Tues. Feb. 12, 2019   Continued...

Hi.

We went to the Temple this morning. So our P-day was today instead of yesterday.

This week was meh. I was sick the whole week and Elder Hicks wasn't feeling the best either. at least we got a lot of studying in. but i'm still not quite caught up with my own challenge oops. Anyway I made cookies on Tuesday for the District to try and spread my misery but no one else got sick. Elder Hicks and I are getting a lot better though and will definitely be able to get back to work saving souls. 

I don't remember what I wanted to talk about so I won't.

Today was pretty cool so far we got to go to a really cool store in IF called WeeBee Toys. they had lots of cool over priced awesome stuff. Another Elder got a yoyo because there was a really cool guy there who impressed us all. then we went and had good cheep mexican food. Now we are Emailing and then soon we are going to hang out and play some games. Then we are going to go and teach a cool family. It's going to be great.

Anyway we have to go. But I can Email all the way 'til 5 so if there are questions you guys want answered I can do that. Also I will be uploading pictures until then also.

Hi Everybody this one is going to have to be pretty quick.  It's 8:42 on the fourth of Feb 2019.  This is the Monday after transfers and I have a new companion named Elder Hicks.  He is not from the South, but from Arizona.  I really don't know him yet, but we're getting there.  Its been a great week. Lots of stuff, but for Friday when I was sick.  

Elder Harvey and I went around to lots of people and told them of the change and got ready for Elder Hicks coming in.  We had a great time.  As far as other stuff we did, there wasn't a ton of it as Elder Harvey packed and I cleaned the apartment.  That is all the goal stuff until Thursday.  Elder Harvey is now in Menan, between and he is training somebody and I am 

He just last served in the IF Central stake and has come to join me and it will be a great time.

I just got really messed up by transfers, we got a ton of stuff this one.  Basically there were two sets of missionaries, along with us the Sisters served.  After transfers they took one of our wards and two of the Sisters wards and made another area for three sets of missionaries in the IF stake.  Prior to this they were Senior missionaries there the Savitches.  Long story short, all four sets of us are working in the stake and that's crazy since I've never heard of more than two sets.  We typically have 5 or 6 wards, now we have 3.  Also, super convenient for the new elders is that they got our best wards and I'm not salty about that or anything... at all.   I'm grateful for the opportunity to focus more.   One of our wards would take all of our time, Taylors Crossing.  They are the furthest ward away from us and we would walk down and back and four days a week.  Now we can focus on Grandview Ward that is falling apart and that's a good thing.

Transfers, 11:30 we went to mission office, dropped off Elder Robinet and got Elder Hicks and got some quick shopping and headed to the apartment and started planning and that got disrupted by a lesson teaching and then introduced Elder Hicks to some of our bishops.  Elder Hicks is a real funny guy and was with his previous comp. for eight months that is unheard of.  He was in his other area 9 months which is pretty much close to the record of one year.  He has siblings, he's 21 and he has a ... well, I don't know much.  That's all I got.  

I had to go turn down the oil and now I've forgotten where I was.  Friday we woke up with a sore throat and I kept working because I'm an idiot, apparently.  I got up and had to go down to the visitors center and correlate and so that was really cool to have eight of us in this tiny room and we were talking and helping them feel better about whitewashing and that means they came in together and they are both new to the area.  We helped them and the sisters helped and they were really glad to have more information.  

In walked some members from my previous area and we went to the office and picked up supplies and headed over to grab lunch but I was too sick.  I was out of it and eventually the housing coordinator came over and we were shoveling and I had to sit down half way through and I went in and came back out and I was exhausted and had shivers and at about 4:45 we stopped and dinner was at 5:30 and I was sitting in the bathroom on the tub wall and I was really feeling sick and then I was barfing and then we cancelled dinner and I slept off the evening.  That is the first time I have been sick so I'm lucky.  

Next day we were able to do a ton of stuff and...

I just went and checked my scone bread and it's looking pretty puffy.  We have two sets of Elders coming over to eat breakfast with us and so I gotta go.  I'll write later.  

Later:  So Saturday we also went to a Baptism That Elder Hicks and his previous companion setup before transfers. then we did a ton of other visits in the evening and then it was raining all day and Elder Hicks slipped on Ice and landed in a lake.(big puddle) it was not cool. After that a member took up for Ice cream to end the night. 

Sunday was great. except no one was available because of the superbowl... ow-well. but we did have a weird experience in the evening when we decided to randomly drop in on an elders quorum pres. here and we found ourselves within a few short minutes giving a blessing of comfort to some (I don't know them) random person. that was a cool experience.  Knock, knock, come in can you give a blessing? sure. 

I will get more pictures with Elder Hicks in the coming days as I have none yet. oops.

Hello from Idaho.

Still.
This last week has been awesome! We found two new people in our area who want to take the lessons!

Brad: Might have once been a member, but he says that he isn't, and wants to come back/Join. We knocked on his door and he invited us in to talk about the gospel, we couldn't talk long then but we came back later and talked for a while about the restoration, and also about The Book of Mormon, he also knows A TON about the Bible, but he is super nice and we hope that he will come to church! 

And Warren: He is an pretty old guy, his Wife is LDS but he isn't, he was raised in Idaho, so he has had lots of experience with the church, but, he never was baptized. We knocked on his door on Friday, and just like with Brad he invited us in and we talked a while! We will probably start lessons next week.

Other than that, This week was pretty uneventful. We are finally almost done going through all of the people that the previous missionaries had talked to/ were meeting with. We have several people we are going to get the wards working with. And the rest just need more time. On Thursday is snowed. Again. After being 60 the day before.

The snow looked like DippinDots so that was kinda weird. The snow was melted by the time we got to our next appointment.

 It was also Zone Conference on Tuesday, so we got to head up to Rexburg and had some awesome meetings with, President Nelson, the APs, Even Elder Davis (our District Leader) spoke on helping the members and the leaders of the wards get excited for missionary work! That was super awesome, and we learned a lot!

 The whole mission is finishing up reading the Book of Mormon again on the 31st. And I am slightly behind. I only have to read from Jacob 2 to Mosiah 5 today, in order to stay on schedule. the rest of the mission is at Ether 15 today...

 Anyway that was pretty much our week. It really is great out here.

And thus we see... snow.

It was kinda weird how it happened too.

But first! I want to say how cool the last Sunday here was! Instead of regular sacrament mtg, we had a MULTI-STAKE-BROADCAST!!!!! And PRESIDENT RUSSEL M. NELSON SPOKE!!!!! So that was slightly awesome. He talked about the Book of Mormon and how through daily study and prayer it can bless our lives and the lives of people around us! And I promise that I have been seeing that here with all of the people we go visit. As soon as they start reading the Book of Mormon, they always get happier and their family gets closer, and (usually) they smile more!

But anyway. Tuesday through Friday, we spent catching up on previous people the Sisters were (kinda) working with back in 2016ish times. Most of the people we met still seemed like they didn't want it, but we would still offer them help and (eternal) happiness. Also we had a great lesson with a 9 turning 10 yr old, his family is baptized but SUPER in-active, so we are hoping that as we teach the whole family and he gets baptized, that they follow suit and get active. 

On Friday it started snowing. The wind and the clouds had been threatening it all week, but this time it got serious. It snowed all Friday night and in the morning too. Then around 10 it stopped and melted. By the end of Friday all the snow was gone. Then we woke up Saturday morning to even more snow than Friday!! So we grabbed our shovels and went out around 10am and shoveled driveways of some of the people we had been working with / trying to get to know. And right in the middle of doing one driveway, out of the house came one of the people who we could never seem to "find a good time to come over". He invited us inside gave us hot chocolate, and we finally got to know him! In the summer he is going to be converting a mobile home he has into a food truck!

Then on Sunday we had another great lesson with Barbra (foreign exchange student) about the Plan of Salvation! That went great because without fail we would start explaining something, she would ask a question, and the next sentence we said would answer her question! That was awesome, and we got cookies afterward so that's great too!

Anyway, everything else is great here! And thankfully we are in an area where people know how to drive!

Don't Email-_See What Happens? Feb 26,

This week transfers will be happening. Basically nothing happened to us, but we are now in a super tiny district, that is us, our district leader and his companion... and that's it. So that's weird.

This Saturday, we had a (my first) Baptism!! Nita was able to be ready and her kids were there too! We are trying to work with her son Ethan (NM) also, but we will see if we can get him too. SUPER AWESOME!! The other Elders in the area were also there. during the baptism we got up and taught the first lesson and you could cut the spirit with a knife it was so powerful! 

Then the day after she was confirmed and given the Holy Ghost!! It was also fast Sunday and she gave an awesome testimony!

The rest of the week was spent with lots of teaching and lots of cleaning! Because we moved into a place WAY CLOSER to our area. It's a real *interesting* place... none of the walls are parallel and the windows poke out.... and from the front the house looks kinda like an Owl... but it's all ours, and it's all we need.

On Friday we went to IF to go to a great meeting where the people over ALL OF MISSIONARY TECHNOLOGY were there... so that was awesome to give them feedback directly, ask some questions we were confused about, stuff like that. The meeting was suppose to be for Zone Leaders only... but President asked us to be there! So I think that was super good! Elder Anderson even got the Email of the guy in charge!

10 companion study. role-plays, and stuff like that to prepare for teaching people.

10:45ish planning plan the day and our appointments and what we could be doing to help others.

11:30 quick lunch then we leave for the day and meet people and go do service and stuff.

5ish dinner at a members/less active/investigator house

then we do some more meetings, until

9 Go Home

write in journal, do a little bit more study....

9:30-10:30 Sleep

and that's a day!

You Are Gunna Need a Bigger Email - Feb 12

This week has been pretty good!

We taught some lessons, walked around, knocked some doors, met new people, and found a house that had 20 cats in the front yard.

There are so many lds people here it is really stunning. We are still working with Nita and she is doing much better. We think her son might be interested but we are not sure just yet. We met an RLDS couple, and they seemed interested and we are meeting with them tonight. 

The best part of this week was ZONE CONFERENCE. We went to Rexburg and got to meet the other Elders in the North Half of the mission! Lots of faces and lots of names.none of them remembered. And Elder Dube of the Seventy was there! He taught about consecrating our self to the work and things that we could work on! That was super cool! Afterward Elder Dube was conducting interviews with specific people.

On Thursday we met some camels, and on Saturday we met some alpaca. The families who own them are both members and they were super nice. There is never a night that we feed ourselves. Everyone has us over for dinner. 

The time goes fast, But I know that this is the Lord's work!

And I seal up these Emails, after I have spoken a few words by way of exhortation unto you.

Dear Family,

This week has been something. We have been pushing member missionary work, because we have almost met (not really even close) everyone in our area! So lots of meetings with ward council members, and lots of meetings with regular members too!  


We are getting the people going, because we can't do this on our own!

Anyway, after Emailing last week we went sledding while the snow lasted. It was all gone by Wednesday. 

Then we got to teach Kash (9 turning 10) the Plan of salvation, and we challenged him to Baptism! He accepted and that's happening on the 7th of April!

Then on Tuesday we went to the first district meeting of the UCON District. There were 4 Elders... And the Senior Missionaries assigned to the area. And that was it. We are the smallest district in the whole mission.

Any way, in the meeting we talked about how during lessons, we should be Teaching, Testifying, Extending Commitments, Promising Specific Blessings, and Then Following Up. And so Elder Anderson and I have been working that process in to all of our lessons and also our regular contacting! I can really see it already helping us meet and talk to new people!

Also, I made bread and brought it to district meeting for lunch after.  Glutenous bread is the easiest thing ever wow.

Then after we got to enjoy how awesome that was, it was Wednesday!
We finally met a family that we had been trying to meet for almost a month! They had never been home once! But we caught them home and got to meet the mother and two kids! apparently both she and her husband are always working, and they take the kids with them in the evening. But, neither of the kids have been baptized and they both seem like they would want to! so we will be working with them soon!

Then Thursday, we did some interviews with president, and then we had housing inspections, and then we met some other people who seemed super nice and receptive... but go to a church that teaches anti-mormon doctrine... so it was a real flip-flop kinda day!

Friday and Saturday, went quick! lots of walking and meeting new people! We were almost caught in a bible bash with some Jehovah Witnesses! We were just talking like normal people, and then they grabbed their bible, and started reading verses and asking us if we agreed with them! The one-sided conversation didn't go anywhere because we had dinner in 10 minutes and had to (thankfully) leave pretty quick! But we kinda want to go back... we will see.

Then Sunday we went to several ward councils and a meeting with all the Ward Mission Leaders in the Stake. The meeting went great, and we think that they are really starting to get the vision of mission work in their area.

Slowly but surely we will get the members here going and inviting and helping and teaching.

Anyway, I am loving it up here! Every day is an adventure, and an experience!

I am so glad that I finally made the decision to come on my mission!
