Email, email, email.

Hi Family and everyone! I am going to actually write an Email this week because there is so much to talk about.

Anyway better start at the start with 

TUESDAY.

We went to Rexburg in the morning to go to the "meet the mission president" meeting that our new mission president, President Hurley was holding. We were able to meet his family and meet him and get some history about him and where he was from. He is a auctioneer from Pennsylvania, he has 6 kids one is on a mission another is in college after serving a mission and the rest are in between Pennsylvania and Idaho, as they needed to attend the state fair at home before they could come. His family is big on getting things done. His son has sold Strawberries for the last several years, His kids are all in charge of their own animals, and stuff like that. His youngest was there with him and his oldest came in a little bit later. My companion got a lesson in auctioneer-ing and everyone thought it was hilarious when he said "two-duh-duh-duh" I have a recording of him getting the lesson so I will be passing that along at the end of this Email. Anyway we had lunch and then everyone ducked out. 

On our way back to Ashton we got a call from some Debbie and Richard (people we are teaching) and it turns out that Richard had double pneumonia and was headed to the hospital in IF. We quickly got a hold of some Elders down there to give him a blessing and they said they would stop by. 

After that we found out what we were going to be doing to help the fourth of July celebrations. We were going to be helping the parade (a parade so nice, they show it twice) by keeping people from going too far into the street. The rest of that story will wait til Thursday when it actually happened. Anyway on to,

WEDNESDAY

Where we had District Council and everyone was real excited about President Hurley and the Fourth of July celebrations. The rest of the day wasn't too crazy. We went to dinner and they basically gave us another dinner to take home with us. It was a crazy amount of food. Also I don't think I have mentioned it yet, but during this whole week the person that we live with has had children and grandchildren over the whole time. There were so many of them.

THURSDAY

Started early with a trip into Ashton to help people setup for the farmers market. While we were there. someone called us over told us to go to Trails Inn across the street and get her a cinnamon roll. And then told us to grab some for ourselves. After that we got our orange vests, and ate our rolls, and went to the parade to help. We would walk up and down the street to collect candy and throw it behind the slowly creeping line of kids. Everyone would slowly slide out further into the street, and then I would come by and abruptly ruin all their fun by asking them to please move back so you don't die. But the kids were having none of that. Anyway during the parade I ran into a family that I knew back in Ucon... Forever ago... anyway they were there for the parade but just so happened to run into me. And then for the rest of the parade, if I walked in front of them they would cheer like I was in the parade. Twas silly. We had a great time doing that. When that was over we went to several other places in town and talked to a billion people and got snow-cones, and lunch at the city BBQ and then we helped Richard and Debbie, by letting their dogs out for just a bit, then we finished off the day by jumping from party to party. In the Evening we picked up our District Leader so that we could go on exchanges on,

FRIDAY

We had our District leader with us the whole day, and we spent the day in West Yellowstone! We did service at a cabin at Henry's lake, then tried several people in Island Park, not home, then went to west and tried a ton more people, then went to dinner and then taught a new person, and all sorts of cool stuff. We grabbed some Ice Cream and then headed back down to Ashton to end our Exchange. The next day was

SATURDAY

Where not a lot happened, because we had to walk around a lot because we used a lot of miles on Friday. We drove around more on

SUNDAY

Where we went up to West again to attend their Sacrament Meeting. There were probably half a thousand people there. They had two sacrament tables, each table had 12 water trays. It was bonkers. We were able to help with a youth class after that, then headed back down to Ashton. On our way down we tried to find someone's house, but instead we drove by it three times and wasted 13 miles. rip.

And that was basically the week!

Elder VanOrman had steak thrown on his shirt but it cleaned right off.

I found a pen in the wash with my cloths, but some rubbing alcohol later, that is coming out.

Email TIES (creating them!)

Hello All, 

Hi as of today our mission now has Blackfoot and we haven't met our new mission president yet but we are meeting him and his family tomorrow.

I haven't taken many pictures this week, but it has been really hot recently. Ashton has been getting crazy busy with all the visitors. The 4th is getting closer, and everything is going crazy!

I thought I would have time to finish this but never mind, instead, have a voice recording!

It is 2:45 and it's looking like I won't have time to email, but mainly because we are teaching other Elders how to make ties today.  When we get back to Ashton it will be after 5 and then service at 6 and a ton of other stuff.  So not a typed, I started one, so here we are.

Anyway,

Lets cover all the important stuff

Rose:  Dang good hamburgers we had on Saturday!  Reallll good.  Dinner was awkward, but the food was great so, oh well.  

Thorn: The fact that my pedometer went missing and I'm very sad about it.  I don't know where it is.

As far as cool stuff, we got to serve the Powells and we got to help them take branches to the dump and teach them the plan of Salvation video.  And as soon as it finished, Sister Powell said she didn't know there was anything after this life.  I thought, "Wow, you are just going to accept it, just like that."  

They are loving the ward and the first time they came, they said they have never seen so much love when they walked into the room.  We helped with some yard stuff and taught them.

We didn't go to West this week because of mileage.. and we have none.  It is a new month, so we have more.

We have a new mission pres and I've not met him yet.  I don't know anything about him except he's an auctioneer, and has a family.  We are meeting him tomorrow in Rexburg to a meet the President meeting in the morning.  I'm sure he's going to be awesome.

As of today, the mission boundaries no longer end at Firth and the mission now covers Blackfoot.  Yeah, all the changes are out there and done. . Yup.

We got to speak in one of our wards this Sunday.  I tried to keep mine short because I knew with four speakers it would be tight and I kept it to ten minutes, probably too long, but my comp. did 12 and the last speaker did 2 and he is the ward mission leader.  The youth speaker is headed out really soon.  

It's been a good week and fun stuff going on.

Where Oh Where Has the Email Gone?

Hi I am emailing on Tuesday because we went to the temple today!

We went down to Rexburg early this morning, and went to the temple. After that we did a quick shop and then we went to lunch, and now we are up here in St Anthony Emailing, after that we are going to wash the car then have our last interview with President Nelson (President Hurley gets here in two days) then we are going back up to Ashton, and who knows what we will do!

Anyway this week. This week has been awesome! We went to west on Friday and Saturday, and while we were up there, we were given a ton of pizza. So much that we dumped a few on some people we were teaching and then dumped some on another set of Elders, and then ate some ourselves. It was kinda bizarre! Anyway, the other days were cool too!

On Tuesday we went to Zone Conference! That was awesome! It was the last one for a lot on missionaries I know so that's sad, oh well. We learned about teaching in interesting ways, and about making sure that we are having fun in our work. Also President gave his departing testimony :( it was super awesome. I am going to have to go over my notes and write down exactly what I can remember him saying. 

On Sunday some people we have been teaching and trying to get to church for the last several weeks CAME! woo! It was an awesome Sacrament meeting to come to also! The ward had a returning missionary give his talk, and he was an amazing speaker about all sorts of cool experiences on his mission. it was super powerful and A great first church meeting to come to.

Anyway I have to run!

Hi All, 

 I didn't have a lot of time this week oops.

Anyway cut to the chase. I learned how to make ties a while ago, and have recently gotten aLot better at it. So Question for all, if you find fabric that you think would make a cool tie design, can you send some to me>?

this was a really great week. We went to West Yellowstone on Sunday, so that we could meet a ton of people. But, it was Stake Conference. so we were watching a webcast from Ashton. and half way through, it cut out. And I considered going and asking if I could help, but by then someone came back and said there was no saving it. so Stake Conference ended an Hour early.

This upcoming Tuesday we have ZONE CONFERENCE! THE LAST ONE WITH OUR MISSION PRESIDENT! AGG

What about Pointed Emails

Hi Everyone, it's another Email! What a surprise!

This week was awesome! Definitely high points were, Today we visited mesa falls, Sunday we gave talks, and on other days we did other stuff.

I have a lot of pictures from Mesa Falls, It was really pretty when we went this morning. I just wish we had been able to spend more time there. oh well.

My talk I gave was about Missionary Work! Super Convenient! I recorded it and I guess will send it to you, but be aware, I wrote it in the time that Elder VanOrman was speaking before me. Oops I still put off talks til the last moment and that isn't good.

Anyway, if you would rather skip the 'figuring out what to talk about while talking' then I am actually going to write about it now because I think it's really important for everyone to know.

I spoke about how easy it is to share the gospel, in our daily lives. I specifically talked about how in Idaho missionary work is all about the members and without them nothing happens. Anyway, I mentioned how Aaron started teaching simply when he needed to teach king Lamoni, and how we need to be simple and caring in our invitations. We shouldn't walk up to random people and invite them to meet with the missionaries. 

That doesn't work (in Idaho) But, we can still invite our friends to church activities and family activities because that is where the spirit is present, and the spirit is how people know this gospel is true. That's why missionaries push the Book of Mormon so much is because when you read it the spirit is present and as you recognize that then you know it's true.

Anyway,

Rose: best crepes I have ever eaten. they had strawberries and Nutella and happiness inside of them.

Thorn: A family we are teaching still hasn't come to church. :(

Hi

Transfer calls were this Sunday. They really snuck up on me this Transfer. The last six weeks have gone by in a real blur. Anyway. Elder VanOrman and I are staying in Ashton for another 6 weeks. And I am so excited for this next transfer. It's going to be a blast. 

I had the opportunity to go on Exchanges this Tuesday with our District Leader. That was an absolute blast we did so much stuff and met people that Elder VanOrman still hadn't met so that was funny to tell him what we did that day. We got to share a message with someone who had been meeting with missionaries a while ago, but had stopped. That was great. Also we had a really awesome dinner where Elder Cano (DL) met someone who was serving where his grandparents lived in Uruguay when they got baptized. So that was also odd.

On Wednesday We had District Council. I didn't make anything good this week, because I learned the morning of that we did not have a pan big enough for my brownies that I wanted to make :/ But after District Council we were able to help setup a blood drive, then a few hours later we were able to give blood! (What is a fast time to give blood? mine was 3.59) The rest of the day we ate a wonderful dinner and then lethargically wandered around Ashton until we passed out from blood loss. rip.

Friday as usual we went to West. Lots of people. Lots of wind. Fun.

Speaking of not fun, my trip into ACTUAL Yellowstone died. Elder VanOrman was going to be staying with another set of missionaries on Monday, so I could go. But the other set of Missionaries decided to take their P-Day on Tuesday to go to the Temple. So rip my trip.

Attempting to Retrieve EMAIL - voice recording

Hello Everybody,

It's Elder Darcey I'm sending a voice recording because we got over to the Family History Center at about nine am and we realized it's Memorial Day so I can't email on a computer as we are now driving to Driggs for a Zone activity.

I'm sending this quick message instead because that's my besst.

This week has been awesome so much good stuff happened.

On Thursday we went on exchanges with one of the AP's and it was a blast and we visited a ton of people and we spent from 5:30 to 7:30 at a community fundraiser for the fireworks for the fourth of July.  The more they make, the better the fireworks are that year.  It was put on by the four different religions in the area in Ashton.  We were serving pulled pork and potatoes and there was a ton left over.  Each church served different food and it was great and we talked to two or three hundred people that night.  It was so cool..

Lots of stuff fell through and lots of challenges in peoples life are starting up because summer is beginning.  I no longer wear long sleeve shirts and though it's only 70, not warm, but warm for here.  There is no snow, in West or Island Park.

That was a weird night.  Friday night we spent in West, in one of two places, more hotelish, or rent a cabin place.  It's really nice, oddly nice.  We were there this week and they put us in one of their best cabins and it was very, very nice.  Watch for the video in the album. 

Rose, this week was definately getting home Wed night and we walked into our house and the guy who lives with us fixed our shower.  We had the worst shower in the mission.  NO Exaggerating.  Go to your sink so some of the water is barely dripping out and that was us. 

Thorn,  probably oof, just how many people had to bale for how many different things going on.  I can't control that.

District Council I was going to make brownies, but that morning went too fast, and the night before I made another key lime pie and they had family over and it was a great time.

I'd like to have an Email

Hey Everyone! This week has been Great!

Other than being congested. 

Ignoring that though, I have been feeling great! So much awesome stuff is going on!

First order of business. Key lime pie was amazing. I made it for district council along with a pumpkin pie, and they were both very good. President Nelson (mission prez) was there, and he talked about making sure that we were diligent in our work and all sorts of cool stuff like that.

also Tuesday I went on exchanges with Elder Wheelock. And had a great time trying to keep up with conversations where I could only say Hola and Adios.

That afternoon (Wednesday) we had a ton of pouring rain. In fact the last week has been filled with nothing but overcast and rain. Man has that been nice. Anyway, we had a lesson while walking around a track in the rain. That was a real blast. We are going to be doing that again this week but it looks like it won't be raining as hard. :/ 

Friday morning we went to Island  Park.  

There we helped a guy tear apart a deck from his cabin on Henry's lake. We burned a lot of stuff, moved a lot of stuff destroyed a lot of stuff. That was a good time.

 Also when we got outside, we found a bird (hawk?) hanging out in a room full of windows and no exit. The poor bird (bird?) couldn't find a way out so I had to pick it up and carry it out. We were scared it wouldn't survive because it had just been ramming it's head on windows for the last few minutes. But a little while after I put it down outside, I was surprised when it flew away. 

Then in west we ate dinner with a ton of drama people. They were doing rehearsals for a show they do all summer and we were invited to "Taco Christmas" so that was weird. 

Anyway, That's been my week!

Happy Email's Day!

Hello Everyone! It's seems like it's been a whole day since I last talked to you! Except I know it's only been 15ish hours because Yesterday was Mothers Day! 

We gave a talk in one of our wards that morning and I talked about a ton of different cool memories about mom! Like how she made a full chain mail armor set for me out of pop tabs, and other cool stuff like that! Anyway my mom is Awesome!

Tuesday was ZONE CONFERENCE! I forgot it was this week until I started typing this Email. Anyway it was a real blast! one of our mission presidency from when I came out was there. (he had been released a few months ago) anyway, before his training (which are always loud and full of energy) Prez Nelson got up and "warned" all the missionaries that had never met him. "Just by the way, President Hall is a high energy speaker!(laughter) So don't be too scared, Listen to the spirit, and don't make eye contact!(more laughter)"

Also this week we got to help at the food handout again! That was a blast! There weren't as many people as last time, and so there was a lot of food leftover unlike last time.

In other news, I am going to try makin' those pies today and Wednesday when we go to district council.

The most part of this week was spent with a killer headache. So that's been fun. It is however going away quickly so I am probably not going to be sad in the future. We have also been doing a ton of cleaning in the place we are staying. Previous missionaries (nine years of them) have simply left whatever they didn't want to take with them. and so there was about 9 years of mess in the place. We have gotten it down to probably 4 or 4.5 years now. Anyway, while we were cleaning, We met a small brown friend that has been living in a pile of socks that we found in the corner of our place. We named him "Furry Houdini" because when we went to catch him, we had him cornered behind a small box. We moved the box and he had pulled a disappearing act on us! We haven't seen him since and we assume it's because he doesn't like the clean-r room that we now have.

umm... oh

Rose this week was that we were given "brownies" at one of our dinners but they weren't actually brownies. they were just Fudge. man that was good.

Thorn was my headache and stuffiness.

Hey Elders Can Call Home Now

Hey all. It's Email time.

I am going to Email quickly.

We can call home now, weird.

I don't know how often I will call, but I will figure it out later.

Anyway this week was great. Like I said Tuesday we went to the Temple, and had a great time. Then Wednesday we did some service and a ton of other stuff. basically walked around for the evening.

Thursday we went to Zone Conference! It was Awesome! Someone from the Mission Office showed up and talked about how we could make the mission do better. Using better planning and Goals. It was really cool.

Also We had a great training on the Book of Mormon. Basically we were told to be using the Book of Mormon more, because It is the big difference between our church and every other church. The one thing that stuck out to me was he said "All of you are out on your mission because you know the Book of Mormon is true. Invite people to find out why you are on your mission... By having people read the Book of Mormon" 

Anyway Friday morning we went to correlate with the other missionaries and halfway through the meeting I got an Email... about calling home... and that ended the meeting as everything devolved into chaos.

Brother and Sister Roberts took us to dinner and took this photo and sent it home to my mom. 

Next Sunday we are speaking in one of our wards. so hopefully my talk doesn't stink.
